The Greek-American Historical Museum of Washington is proud to be supported by great organizations like ECOS.

ECOS

Founded by a Greek immigrant and family-owned since 1967, ECOS is a women-led manufacturer of safer, sustainable cleaning products made without harmful chemicals. With a mission to support overall wellness and protect the health of people, pets, and the planet, ECOS formulates its products with thoughtfully chosen ingredients and operates with a climate-positive footprint. Its Lacey, Washington facility is one of four U.S.-based plants that reflect the brand’s deep commitment to sustainability, innovation in green chemistry, and mindful living.

The American Dream

Over 50 years ago, our founder Van Vlahakis made a commitment to create safer cleaning products that protect the health and wellbeing of both people and the planet.

In 1953, Van Vlahakis arrives in NYC from Greece with $23 in his pocket. His homeland and its pure, plant-powered approach to cleaning will provide future inspiration for the creation of ECOS.

The company continued to grow over time, and in 2011 expanded into the Pacific Northwest. The new Northwestern Division is located in Lacey, Washington, to reduce shipping distances to the northwestern U.S. and Canada, bringing us one step closer to carbon neutrality.
