MISSION - To establish an organized means of collecting, preserving and making available the
history and culture of the Greek-American community in Washington State.
HISTORY
The idea of the Museum began in November 2009. The emphasis is on those items or stories that
preserve and share the experience of Greeks in Washington State. Information is gathered by
meeting with individuals and families to explain the purpose of the Greek-American Historical
Museum, conduct interviews and identify possible items for the Collection. Such items may
include oral and video histories, articles of clothing, textiles, photographs, written documents,
publications or other artifacts.
The Greek-American Historical Museum is designed to tell the stories on line, in a "museum without walls." The Internet provides a means of making the history available to more people than could be reached in any other manner. Eventually a physical site may be used to display the items in the Collection.
